I had the meters or pickups, [I am not sure what the correct term is] for my planter in the shop. I am going to need replacements for them. Where in your opinion is the best place to get them?
The meter is for corn and is this a one size fits all, or do I have to wait and get seed to match the meter like the old plate planters? My manual went up in smoke also.

Try precision planting. www.precisionplanting.com
I dont know prices for sure, I think ive seen 150/row. Lots of guys swear by them.

Get the precision meters from precision planting and don't look back. They are comparable pricewise with JD an will outperform out of the box for spacing and singulation. Watching them run on a test stand when I worked in a JD shop made a believer out of me. We are looking into putting their E-sets in our Vac planter.

You can buy the precission meters from shoup with the bullseye seed tubes. I have used them for 5 years. Neighbor liked how uniformed my spacing was and replaced all his JD meters with precission. You wont be disappointed.

10-4 on the precision meters. Ours are a few years old and have a small med and large seed setting on them. Our agco dealer is also a Kinze dealer, most are. They will check your meters out and update them for a small cost, furnishing you with written proof of how they preform. like 996 out of 1000 one is 999 out of 1000 at 5 mph at 30000 . They also have better bean meters.
