corn crib centers

Hi guys,
You have always been so helpful. I have 2 wire corn cribs that I put up. I need to make the center air tubes (Ventalation tubes)for each of them. Should I make them 18 inches x 18 inches or 24x24 inches. Also has any one tried banding 3- 6in PVC pipes together and drilling a ton of holes in them for corn crib centers? With the cost of treated wood, I thought I could try that too. Thanks for your help.

Keep an eye on Craigslist, you might find the wire ventilators on there for cheap if you have some time to wait. Last Fall I picked up a set of the U-shaped ventilators that run across the floor, for $50, and they came with a few sections of the vertical wire tubes too.

Have you thought about using a cattle panel and having it bent into a circle (lengthways)? Maybe 5-8 foot sections, depending on the throat of a press in a machine shop? Could crimp it every few inches to form the circle. My local shop has a ten foot press.
