can grass seed be planted in winter in tn.k31
just wondering if it can be done now while ground is wet and a drill will go in the ground.

grass seed may be a little too light, but if you can get it covered up it will be ok. Things like clover work well to frost seed. Simply broadcast the seed and let freeze/thaw to bring it in the ground. But it has to be heavy enough not to blow away.

You definately don't want to use a drill when it's wet, that's a recipe for failure. Spreading your seed immediately ahead of a rain this time of year is probably the best option for overseeding.

I do not know how your weather is but frost seeding here is out of the question. We are getting just enough warm weather to make it sprout and then the cold hits to freeze it.

Im up here in Iowa. We wont warm up enough to sprout anything until march. Ground temps warm enough to sprout corn here rarely come before late april.
