First, and foremost, take a soil sample. Then lime to the hilt for acidity according to the soil test. NOW is a great time. Fertilize to test, wait until spring and put down a good burndown such as Gramoxone or Glyphosate and a season long weed control such as Lumax or Bicep + 2,4-d. You want your ph to be 6-6.5, and fertilize to your test for what you expect your yield to be ( with corn, 150+ bu.). Plant a good hybrid as early as possible around 2" deep.

Good luck...

I doubt tha you'll achieve the yeild goals you have in mind. Planting beans and getting the ground into shape and following with corn the next year will be much more profitable.

You can if you have the right planter. Although I think I would want to spray it or burn it first to help control the weed regrowth.

Yes.

I'd be concerned about fertility, harder to deal with lime and placing P & K in soil that hasn't been kept up for 20 years assuming such things are needed.

Insects, slugs, and some types of disease can be pretty bad, pick your corn traits and treatments carefully.
