saving pumpkin seeds for next year

i've got a few pumpkins i grew and one conetticut field i bought, and i wanted to save the seeds to plant next year. i've got the seeds cleaned as well as i could and spread out in the sun to dry. i'm guessing that's all i really need to do, but i did the same thing last year and none of them germinated this year. any secrets you know of?

also, what about okra seeds? i left a bunch of pods on the stalks until they got pretty big, and i've been drying them whole in the sun. anything special with them?

Let the okra pods dry and then bag them and freeze them till next spring and do the same with the pumpkin seeds and both should do just fine. I have hung okra pods up in the house in the kecnthen (sp)before and let then hang that way till spring and they did just fine

dont let them dry TOO long.just enough so they wont start to rot.then keep them in a cool place to stop germination. hybrid seed often has trouble when you hold it over,or wont come back true.
