im thinking about farming can anyone give me an idea what it costs per acre planting to harvest conventional tillage 100 acres has come available in my area and what is fair rent price for the ground rolling ground prob clay type soil and what would an average profit be iv always wanted to try this thanks

First question, have you farmed before? Do you have equipment? Land price varies, depends on where your located. Here in NE Indiana it goes from $100 to $300 an acre. Price to put a crop in the ground will vary according to what you plant( corn, soybeans, wheat). For a hundred acres 50/50 beans corn just inputs will be minimum $25,000. Add to that machinery cost/repairs, fuel, and other miscellaneous items.

I wish you the best of luck, your line about the average profit makes me laugh and cry after the drought we just went through here, I'll be lucky to recover my input cost this year. The equipment and labor are a complete loss. In a good year you can make money, I would try to find out the corn base on the land before making a bid on rent. The good side of this year is $7.56 corn I just wish I had more to sell.

It all depends on where you are, what you want to grow, what equipment you have, what type of inputs you need, etc. You're going to need to be a lot more specific to get any real answer.

I would say rent from$20.00 to $700.00 per acre. The profit should be in the range of $100,000.00, plue or minus

Do you have equipment? Do you have storage? Do you have ability to haul? What sort of rental agreement do you/will you have as far as land owner sharing input cost? Do you have any sort of marketing plan? Do you have knowledge specific to crop(s) you intend to grow? What is average rent per acre in your area? Answer those questions and I have about 1000 more depending on your replies.
