JD 1560 Drill and Tractor Question

Just wondering on the hydraulics on this JD 1560 drill and my White 2-135 tractor. The tractor has closed center hyds. The drill needs down pressure. It comes as a closed center system, but has an optional valve that can change from open center to closed center.
If I understand right, I need to have it on closed center and then lock my remote lever forward (down)to keep the oil flowing through the drill hyd system and keep down pressure on the openers, etc.
My problem is that it seems like when I hold the remote lever in the tractor forward, the hyd system seems to be growling, like I need to release the lever. I may be dreaming, but it sure seems like it. I don't want to burn the pump up or anything. Any suggestions? Also, the hyd pressure gauge has been changed out from the original gauge that has green, yellow, and red pressure zones, to one with psi. Any idea where the psi might be in normal conditions? Just an approximate to have something to go by. The JD750 drill I traded in had an entirely different set up. Thanks for any help. Bob

With my White 2-105 I had problems with the markers not the down pressure, I had to run the pressure a lot higher then what was recommended to seed my alfalfa correctly. I had problems with running the markers, never could get them figured out with my White. So I just didn"t use them.

Check the manual to be sure but the pressure required for the active down force might be higher than the standby pressure on your tractor which is the only reason I could think of that would cause what you are describing. I used my neighbors 750 a time or two and just watched the gauge and bumped the lever to keep it in the range with our 1086. Deere was good about making implements that don't play well with other brands, some more so than others.

I copied and pasted this out of the 1560 parts catalog.
