Loading big rounds

Fella came with semi and 30 bale trailer to load bales today. It is designed to load them end to end, 10-10-10. Pretty high over the front wheels. I have the MDS from Parkston SD bale spears. I had to poke the bales in the side , keep forward pressure on them and use the joystick to lever them up off the ground.
I tried a center punch, a liitle higher than center with the spears pointed, down, and a below center with spears angled down.
What is the safest procedure?
Sometimes the bales were not leaning on the back rest.
Farmall 95 , 730 loader with bale spear attachment, 150 gals water in 3 point sprayer
And yeah, when we were done loading I went and sprayed 20 acres of crp for CT.

Sounds like a pain in the rear to load that way to me.

When you stab from the side getting them to release off the tines without the bale following you must be a problem as well unless there is somr type of rail to hold the bale on the trailer.

You might want to look into a grapple bucket if you are going to have to load this way a lot.

Yes. the flat bed was modified for bales, had an angled lip. Here it is
The top row is SLOW careful work.
Last Friday there were 91 bales there ,Three different individuals agreed on the count.
Truck holds just 30. Funny we had only 89 bales to load. Someone just helped themselve to a ton and a quarter of hay.

Thats probably the only advantage we have here, our hay around here is so sh!tty no one wants it......

Yep, IaGary has it right. You need a grapple hook. Allen in Neb has several of them...shouldn't be that far away for you to go "borrow" one.
