WAS AT LOCAL GRAIN ELEVATOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. STARTED TALKING TO MANAGER ABOUT PRICES ASKED ME WHAT I WANTED FOR A GOOD FALL PRICE SAIDS 6.00 WOULD BE A NICE PRICE SINCE CORN 6 MONTHS BACK WAS ABOUT 4.50. TALKED ABOUT WEATHER AND THEN LEFT. 6 MONTHS LATER I GET A CONTRACT FOR THE 6.00 IN MAIL TO SIGN. IS THIS A BINDING CONTRACT WHEN I WAS TALKING ABOUT 6.00 BACK THEN.ANY HELP?

Boy.......

Oral contracts with the elevator should be good; followed up by paperwork to document it within 5 days.

Based on your side of things, sure looks like they are fishing to hook you on this, doesn't sound right.

If the words of the conversation were exactly as you say then It doesn't sound like a verbal contract. Somehow I think there is more to this story then you are telling us. Sorry.

Did you talk about how many bushels you would deliver? Or is the contract open ended? After six months I would say he is fishing. Hell, corn for fall delivery has been over $6.00 for two or three months.

A written contract six months after a verbal conversation? If your giving us all the facts then they are wrong. My local elevators ( I have 2 within 3 miles and 5 more within 20 miles ) will have a written contract within 2 days of a verbal conversation. Like the rest said, sounds like they're fishing.
