What are the pros and cons on one of them John Deere 100 big square bailers? One showed up at a local dealer for not to much and it's spotless and in great shape. Not planning on doing a lot of custom baleing with it I have enough of that with my round bailers. Just want to know what their like?

I have been around 2 or 3 diffrent jd 100,they are not very good.can't make a tight bale,3x3 hay bale 7-800lbs max, straw 450 the plunger can not take the pressure ends up breakimg the arms and the gearbox, had some problems with the notters, never worked right.I personally would not buy one,I would look at a new holland or maybe a hesston

There's a reason it is "for not too much" even though "it's spotless and in great shape". I've heard die-hard green folks, including Deere dealers, really bad-mouth this machine. Since it does not build a pre-formed flake like the Hesston (a feature subsequently copied by the industry) it has a hard time making well-shaped bales in light windrows. Also, the lack of double knotters (another Hesston invention) limits the bale density.
