Capri Chest type freezer thermostat ?

I have an older Capri chest type deep freezer
probably built in the 1980's.
It freezes great but ive not heard it kick off.

I unscrewed the thermostat control mounted inside at the back panel, unplugged the 2 wires and used an ohm meter and got zero at lowest and highest settings.

im thinking about getting a universal thermostat control as i cant find the exact model anywhere.

Where does the capillary tube run to ? does it run inside the freezer walls ,or down to the compressor ? how do i remove it ?

It"s been a long time, but the cap tube runs down one of the walls on the cold side of the insulation. Some of the units had the bulb up against the freezer wall and some had them inside the freezer under a metal protective cover and then some had long cap tube on the cold side of the insulation for averaging the temp. Them little hummers were a bear to replace. There were times we would just leave the old in place and install a new controler drill a hole through the side for the cap tube and bulb install a protective cover wire to the relay and go. This was a lot easier on the pocket book. Hope this helps and good luck
