Hi All, looking for a little guidance here.
I have about a 4 acre field that i rent as horse pasture in the summer. lot of native grass that grows really well accept i have some drainage problems. there's a slight ridge that bisects the field down the middle. One side drains nicely to a creek, while the other side basically pools at low spots as its trapped with no place to run off. I also have hard clay under the soil.
I have a old ferguson te20 thats served me quite well, so i'm looking to put it to work again in assisting with this problem. i want to dig a shallow, gently sloped ditch running the length of my poorly drained side with one or two cutoffs running back to the creek from my new ditch. question is, what to use? I'm thinking a "mud scoop" would work well and i'm prepared that it will take a little time, so I’m not to concerned about that. Should i be looking at some other options? ie subsoiler, etc? any and all feedback welcome.
Thanks in advance. Jeff
