I am putting in a small (15 acre) wildlife food plot of round-up ready corn. How much glyphosate 4 plus do I mix per gallon of water to do the job?

What are you trying to kill?

6, 12, 18 inch grass?

6, 12, 18 broadleaf weeds?

Have to know your target weeds to know what rate to use.

Read the label, different brands of glyphoste have different amounts of active ingrediates per gallon.

Im not familiar with 4 plus.

Should have added- You put on glyphosate per acre not so much per gallon based on target weeds.

The amount of water used as a carrier is based on the calibration of your sprayer.

Yup, trick question. You need to know how much water your sprayer is putting on per acre. Depends on the pressure, the pump flow, the spray tips, and the speed you drive.

Most sprayers put out 10 to 20 gallons per acre. Many sprays work better closer to 20; Roundup actually works better closer to 10.

You might use 150 to 300 gallons of water to spray your field?

You'll probably want 15 quarts of glyphosate to cover the 15 acres - can use less, can use more depending on the weeds, weed size, etc.

Tell us how much your sprayer puts out per acre, and the math is easy from there. :)

I agree reading the label is the way to go - I would assume 4 plus is 4lb concentration, and the plus part means it has the stickies in it already. But - I am assuming. Reading the label is the right way.

Do you know how to calibrate your sprayer? Do you have a way to ascertain your speed while spraying (GPS?)
When you have those things shoot for 10 gals of spray per acre and 1.2 qts of your RU per acre.

I have another question: Why do you need to work your wildlife food plot as hard ($) as you would your regular field??? Some tillage, prep should do the trick.... unless you have a lot of "green" bucks....

I've had trouble killing grasses (foxtail and pigeon) in my plots What type of glsophate would you reccomend. I've tried Round Up, SHowdown, and the Generic stuff TSC sells

Really, glyphosate generally does well on grasses, it can be a little weak on some broadleaves.

What conditions are you spraying the grasses in, the plants should be gorwing nicely. If it is too cold, or too dry, or it has headed out & mature that the plant isn't growing right? Otherwise, glyphosate does real good on grasses most of the time. Something isn't right?

Also make sure to add a surfacant to make the roundup stick to the plants. Many generics do not have any or enough added.Ask the dealer where your roundup came from.
