Here's an e-mail I got from Penn State the other day. Have any of you folks ever used this, or a like product?

I take a nasty beating from crows, turkeys, and even geese when we plant and after.

Here's the note.

Folks,

We learned last week that John Lake from the Pa. Department of Agriculture was successful in obtaining a 24c label for Avipel as a bird repellent for field corn. Ken Ballenger from Arkion Life Sciences has sent us this note below sharing their plan for distribution.

From Ken Ballenger:

Avipel is a bird repellent and it is now approved under a 24c label in Pennsylvania. The product is effective in protecting corn seed from bird depredation from the moment is it planted until it grows big enough to be too large to be taken by the birds.

Our distributors in Pennsylvania will include Helena, CPS, United Suppliers, Winfield Solutions, Meherrin, and other local dealers. If there are any questions, please contact me at your earliest convenience. More information about our product can be found on our website www.arkionls.com .

I wonder if it works to keep sandhill cranes from pulling up the entire plant? If it does,we need to apply for permission to use it here in Michigan. Those PITA will pull up six inch tall corn.

I just saw on Farm Week that it's gotten an emergency exemption in 6 states, including Michigan! Bye bye birdy!

Pennsylvania,Mississippi,Michigan,South Dakota,Texas and Louisiana.
