What do they grow near Denver?

Took a flight last week and had a layover in the Denver airport- it was a bright, clear day, and what a view over the area!

I could clearly see what was irrigated and what was not, so what do they grow in the area?

Could be a lot of things. All small grains--wheat, oats, barley (both feed and malting, gotta make Coors out of something), but if it was green, that wasn't it, as it would be harvested now. The green was probably corn, alfalfa, sugar beets, or dry edible beans, as those are the big crops. There are also smaller amounts of potatoes, onions, melons, and other vegetables grown near Denver. Also there are sod farms in the area. Really diverse farming area, but you're right, it takes irrigation water, though there is quite a bit of dry land farm ground there too (mostly wheat).

drove through there last week from Colorado Springs back to Montana. Looked like houses and shopping areas was what grew best.
