WHITE 4/175 TRACTOR

AM LOOKING AT A WHITE 4/175 TRACTOR TO USE FOR PULLING A DRILL,ALSO TO USE FOR 3PT CORN PLANTER. HAVE HEARD THAT THEY WHERE A BIT OF A PROBLEM TRACTOR.HAS ANYONE HAD GOOD OR BAD LUCK WITH ONE OF THESE TRACTORS? THANKS FOR ANY IDEAS OR THOUGHTS.

You don't see too many of those in this neck of the woods. I do know that they usually go really cheap, and most of the time that's not a good sign. I have always heard people complaining about the center pins in them. That and they run a 3208 Cat, which every one of those that I've run has sucked fuel down like it was free.

If you are going to use it for drill/planting work only I'd look for a 2+2 instead. They had their share of problems as well but I think you would be better off. Maybe if you find one cheap a Deere but make sure if it's an 8X30 or 8X40 series that they have been updated to the 50 series stuff otherwise you will invest more in repairs than what the tractor is worth.

Just my 2 cents. Hopefully someone else can be more of a help for you.

EDIT: Forgot to include, on the White - 3208 Cat = no low end power.

I think you"ll find the 4-210 to be built a lot better, maybe not much more in price. Neighbor had a 4-180 (not 4-175?) and made that comment, after 2 3208s and the 3 speed.

I had a 4-180 and loved it! Used the 3208 in that and Cat 613 elevator scrapers for a long time with no problems. There ar companys that are boring the 3208's and sleeving them.
I rebuild my center pin about 8 years ago and it was wayy under $1000.00. The exhaust system is the one that will take your heart away at over $1500.00!
Didn't like the 2 speed that you had to stop to shift though!
