Planting pictures to sooth your winter blues!!!!!

I'm new here and i thought maybe some of your guys could use some nice dusty pictures to get over all this fricken snow

If you have any questions feel free to ask and if you want me to post more pictures just say so!

This is what I run most times in the spring, A 8970 with Trimble autosteer pulling a 50' 985 field cultivator 8)

We moldboard plow all of our corn on corn ground so it requires two passes, one to knock it down and one to incorporate nitrogen.

This year i think we'll run the cultivator around the clock so we don't have to use the little finishers.

Now for the corn planter! The planter is equipped with air clutches on each row for automatic swath control. The tractor is a 4850 with Trimble autosteer. As you can see the markers don't get used much

I rode on the planter for a while the first day so we could calibrate the swath control system.

In case you wondered what the cab of the 4850 looks like inside.

Yes, we still use bags! We also still bale small squares!

Here I am going into some min-till
IMG_0722.jpg

Our soybean drill FINALLY showed up just as we were about done planting corn.

We started soybeans pretty late this year and planted till the third week in June. THis year the soybean drill will go behind the 4650 so we can start sooner.

Good old 4840 had the duty of disking washouts, almost 11,000 hours and still kickin!
IMG_1142.jpg

The drill has a scale on it to make calibration much easier.

*sigh* when it's time to go it's time to go!

I took around 4000+ pictures last year and have 100+ videos on youtube, if there is anything you guys would like to see please let me know!

Thanks.

(quoted from post at 21:39:07 02/12/10) Cool pictures, nothing like that equipment around here!! Thanks for posting!

How do you like the Kubota UTV?

Thank you!

We like it alot, it sips fuel and has plenty of power. It is by far the best utility vehicle that you will ever buy.

It even has enough power to pull loads of hay out of the field. Plus it has a front hitch so you can put wagons into the shed quickly if it is going to rain.

why all the plowing? kinze units i assemble those as sideline. that can be fun some times when usually you don't have correct parts or the row unit linkages are pre install upside down! Scale unit on the Bean planter is it fom Scale tec. (Ken Von Muenster) I helped him get started in the business. why on earth have you not went bulk? i am glad i am out of that now mainly alot of hours and dollars tied up for minimun wage.

We have done side by side tests and plowing is the best way (at the moment) to grow continuous corn. It helps us to get the most out of our fertilizer and the ground warms up so much quicker in the spring. Fall tillage is done only a few hours after the combine and the plow enables us to do a good job every time. We have not gone to bulk corn because there is really no reason for us too. Bags work much nicer if you want to be picky and put one unit per box when finishing up a field. A little exercise never hurt any too

Yes, we we have alot of help but all are family except for one or two guys and everyone seems to be very happy with the pay :D If you work hard here you will be rewarded, no doubt!

Thanks for the comment!

(quoted from post at 07:43:04 02/13/10) Well needed pictures this time of year. I will look ya up on YouTube.

Thanks,

Ray

Thanks alot Ray! I'll have to dig up some more pictures.

(quoted from post at 14:01:09 02/13/10) why disc washouts instead of just sodding them up? Nice equipment, whats your fertilizer program?

If we did that then there would be grass everywhere! They seem to get better and better every year with no-till.

I can't think of rates right off the top of my head but we broadcast P&K in the fall and use 28% ahead of the planter. This year we will start experimenting with banding fertilizer instead of broadcasting to get better use out of it.

(quoted from post at 05:19:32 02/14/10) Thanks for posting the interesting pictures.

No problem!

(quoted from post at 12:52:03 02/14/10) great pictures, thanks for sharing

Not a problem, thanks for looking!

(quoted from post at 21:38:39 03/01/10) WOW! how many million acres do you guys farm!?

Let's just say a million 8)

I don't usually say how many acres we farm because I don't want to feel like I am blowing my own horn, I hope you understand.

Nice pictures, and videos. Watched a few of them last night. That is quite the operation you guys have there. Seeing those pictures gives me the itch to get going.
