Re-farming CRP land

I have about 7 acres that has been in CRP for the last 10+ years, the contract has now expired. I am in central Minnesota. I am trying to decide what to plant for next year. I have planting equipment for corn or soybeans, can probably get ahold of a drill for small grains if I want to. The soil is generally sandy. I am wondering if there is much difference in the potential between these different crops following grass for so many years. I plan to moldboard plow it this fall.

Beings you are plowing it I would plant corn in it. You could also notill beans into it and get a good crop. Then follow with corn the next year. Unless it is rough from gophers and so on then you may want to plow it.

If you notill it spray this fall with roundup to get a jump on the burndown.

Have it soil tested so you know where you are at on lime and fertility.

no fun combinining beans on tilled sod, btdt, eassy to pickup clumps of sod with dirt in it, I would agree with Gary either plow and go to corn or notill it if it isnt rough, notill slows the release of stored carbon

best to plw under and rr corn to get rid of all the grass seeds that have been produced ffor the last crp yrs, dry enough to dick oround the out side two tree passes to prevent escapes and burn it off now???? my 2 cents
