I was getting a little embarassed that a thread with my name was staying at top so long.... ;)

I still need to fit my new to me F3 combine in the shed. Got 4 inches of snow last nite, and it is 10 degrees tonite. Need to take the flashers off, take apart the bin extention, and hope deflating the front tires a bit will get me in.

Got the cattle out on the cornstalks & oats/clover/turnip patch. Sure helps that they can fill their tummies all day in this cold weather, and if they sleep out in the field they fertilize it right back again. They only come intot he barn area for water a couple times a day, unless we get real nasty weather. Think the turnips might be a little hard to get - too cold & froze now, and they grew too big this year. Gotta do something fun & different tho, just corn & beans gets boring.

The 1st of nov. mom had a blood clot in her leg and just brought her home from the nursing home yesterday . Well I`m way behind , still have some calves here at the house that need weaned . Has`nt rained around here all fall and still running water for cows that run in 300 A. of hills, hollars and creeks . We are getting alittle snow/rain now but hardly gets the rocks wet in the creek but gets it good and gressy for wood cutting that I`m behind in . When the hurrican came through IN. it put plenty of wood on the ground , gota watch theres plenty of widow makers too!!

I just finished planting a new crop of winter potatos. Next spring I will harvest them with my new rock picker.

Now thats the forum that I love.....You all be careful in that slick snow, here it is just a cold raw nasty north wind, next week I want to start turning a little sod, I would love to be done by Xmas.

Corn will stay down at $3.00 till crude oil gets back to $75 or more.

There is a glut of gas on the market right now and no need for ethanol when gas is so cheap.

We are all froze up here in Iowa. No more tillage this fall unless it warms up big time.

Where are you at that you still have unfrozen ground?

Gary

Hey Gary. It ain't frozen down here in south central Texas but dry as a popcorn fart. Cows don't have nothin to eat except last year hay and no big rain in sight. Oh well guess it rains on the just and the unjust.

Rather be in Texas right now.

Winter should not come till after Christmas.

This snow and cold in early Dec. is for the penguins not humans.

Gonna be a long old winter at this rate.

Gary

yeah, this is for sure the best forum on these boards. I am still selling bales like hot cakes, I have made $350 this weekend so far selling 5 round bales by just dumping them in the back of peoples pick up trucks with my little loader tractor. Just in warming up and waiting for a guy to show up at noon to buy two more bales and then off to deliver 14 more bales, so the hay is selling great, square bales are selling a lot slower then rounds but that is because I am selling them for $7 per small square. I have been also selling about 6 sides of beef a month direct marketing to local customers.

And the cattle have been keeping me busy, I still have 3 more to calve in this nasty weather out on some rented pasture about ten miles away, I have had to haul my trailer over there and haul calves in to warm them up.

I missed all of my fall tillage, it got too froze up so fast here and never warmed back up, I never have seen a November this cold and snowy before.

I am so glad for you, I can not give a bale of hay away here in Missouri, their is a glut of it, but it is starting to get cold enough to kill the pastures so I hope there will be a market soon.. Everyone is starting to get deprest with the cattle and grain prices going to the basement in this neck of the woods. We are going to be all right if we just stick together and help each other, after all, now I can afford to drive to the poor house since gas has came down!
