i bought some oats hay from a neighbor that was green when i bought but a few days after putting into bale feeder it turns yellow and looks like straw.
neighbors brother told me he also has baled some oats hay that turned yellow.
do any of you guys know why?
the cows still eat it just looks like i'm feeding them straw.

Oat hay, like most hay, will change color when exposed to light. Sounds like it's behaving normally and I wouldn't worry about it. If it was baled at the proper stage of dryness and was stored properly it will be good hay when fed.

Yep it will always turn more of a white than yellow. But it always turns color.

See cows don't care about the color.

Same with bright green hay ,cows don't care if it is green or not.

All they care is the taste and feed value.
