Pasture mix is catching up to oats. What to do?

About 50% of my field has been stunted from the rains we've had over the past month or so & there are a few spots where the oats didn't come up at the same time. There are lighter colored young ones mixed in with the dark green ones that already went to seed. What should I do when the field comes up uneven? The grass seed is about the same height as the stunted oats. Albeit I only have about 5 acres, there's alot of money invested in a few bags of pasture mix & I sure don't want to plow it under & try again. I'm assuming it's because of all the rain. I planted just oats, last year, & had no problem. I even put it on kind of thick to choke out the weeds. Those oats came up like the weeds! This year? Bupkis! I could have gotten away with rice or cranberries. So, now I'm stuck with this hodge-podge & don't quite know what to do. Whats worse is, I was planing on binding this year & I don't think I'll have a spot in the field where I can cut the oats long enough without cutting the grass mix, too. Any help would be appreciated. - Mike

P.S. Anyone want to buy some mosquitoes?

Sounds like you need to bale it up . Next spring your pasture mix will come in nice . May look a little weedy this fall but if you get it mowed now it will get big enough this fall to get a few mor bale and clean the field up .

Really nothing you can do if you want the oats. A few years ago had same problem, had to combine oats as high as I could to stay out of the hay. Same reason, rain forced me to cut late. Then when I cut the hay it looked more like straw then hay because of all the oat stubble.
