My heart goes out to those of you who lie in the path of the planned flooding by the US Corp. of Engineers. We are experiencing similar situations here in North Eastern NY. The Northern Hudson Valley, and Champlain Valley are experiencing Record Flooding as well. The Great Sacandaga Lake, which was designed to control water levels in the entire Hudson River Basin in 1926, and construction completed in 1930, reached a record high this week. The dicision was made to release damed water, to releive pressure and as a result many down stream towns are suffering as well. Here in Northern NY river valleys are narrow and water rises fast and deep, rather than overtaking massive acerage, but the effects are the same, with our concentrated populations and interstructure in the valleys. Today AMTRACK rail service was suspended from Albany, NY to Montreal Canada.
Forget "The Rath Of God". Mother Nature Ain't Happy! and you all know about the old saying about messing with Mother Nature.
 
Indeed Loren. The few times in my life I've been looking up at a dike makes me nervous. Can't imagine living where big brother gov't is responsible for holding the water back.
Canal auth. has been trying to work on lock at the north end of Cayuga Lake. First I've ever seen one drained. Amazing infrastructure. Original Edison GE DC equipment. Don't know if they got done what they wanted to. It's all under water now!
 
The White River here at Augusta Arkansas will crest at 40.8 feet in the morning. This is the highest the river has been since 1945. Flood Stage is 26.5 feet. The picture is the American Legion Building.

My family and I feel really bad for all the people being effected by the flooding. So much loss and suffering caused by something you have no control over. Here ,we are in the worst drought ever. The oaks in the mtns are dying. In the vally where we live, the mesquites are drying up. Around my place they have very few leaves.
