While mowing today a rock got out of my Flail mower and hit a window in a industrial bulding. About a 4x6 piece of grey probably 1/4 in thick glass. I have insurance for that kind of damage. Any one had experience with insuracne company's filing a claim? If I file a claim will they drop me next year, or raise my premimum. I have never filed a claim since I have been with the company, about 6 years.I have no idea what it will cost to replace the glass, but it probably wouln't be cheap. Stan

Don t file unless you are prepared to find another insurance co. At the least you may have a surcharge added to your bill. The wife's last fender bender cost my insurance 350.00 the total surcharges was 1100.00

I have had the same insuance for twenty plus years. In all that time three claims. $1800 theft, $2300 oldest kid car accident, and $80,000 middle kid truck accident w/injury. I was sure the $80,000 one was going to be the end of it. To my suprise it wasn't. The Agent made the comment that they favor a ratio system. I.e.. to many and you go. He also said any company that will drop y'a over "one" claim isn't worth having because they will not be there when you need them. I insure everything with them now.

I wouldn't sweat it. They are on the hook for it and if they do drop y'a, they were not worth having.

As far as filing go's. Call them, tell them what happened and let the Building owner know who to call about getting it paid. If anythig is required they will tell y'a.

find out what the replacement glass would cost first, before filing with insurance co. check with agent how much deductible is and what will happen. if they are a good agent they should be kinda be on your side, if they want to keep you as a customer.

That should be a fairly minor property damage claim. I certainly cant speak for your company but I'm on the board of one here. Underwriting looks at the degree and magnitude of negligence when looking to cancel someones coverage. I've had a lot of claims over a lot of years and only one ever raised my rates. It was a collision claim on my truck. I lost my 15 percent safe driver discount. It comes back at 5 percent per year with no claims.

Talk to your agent. A lot of it comes down to how long you have beed with youe Insurance company. I can't speak for your company, but wouldn't be a problem for most.

Insurance companies aren't as vindictive as they used to be.... That said, find out what the repair's going to cost, and talk to your agent.
You will have to

You will have to decide what is most economical. Deductable, possibility of raised premium, etc will need to be considered.
