Planter for sunflowers

Looking for a cheap planter to plant some sunflowers. Around here, 4 row IH Cyclo's are cheap and easy to come by, but I have no idea if they will plant a sunflower seed. I realize there are two types of sunflower seeds, oil type and eaten' type, and I don't care which one I plant if it makes differnce to which planter I use. Some of the websites about sunflowers say Deere plate planters are not reccomended. Anyone out there with sunflower experiance? Thanks!

I always use my cornplanter and simmply disperse the seeds in the fertilizer cans. I have
no problems.

I plant about 10 acres a year with an old IH 56 plate planter. Works fine, you just have to get the right plates for your seed. I got mine from Lincoln Ag. They were very helpful

Planted about 30 acres with a 4-row IH 56 planter back in about 1978. Used sunflower seed plates, and had excellent results at about 4 mph.
