Bucket,,,, John Deere 48 Backhoe attachment

Hi!

I have a JD 4510 utility tractor, with a JD 48 backhoe attachment. Working on our new place, have to dig a very long trench to get the underground power to the building site. I have a 18" bucket, anybody know where I might find a smaller one? 12" or even smaller would be nice.

Lloyd,

Do yourself a favor and do it with the 18"
bucket. One foot buckets are too narrow to get
a fair sized rock into , and if the dirt is
wet or it is sticky clay ,it will not dump out.
An 18 or 2 ft ditch is much easier to fill and
will pack better than a narrow one, seems like
a 12" ditch will settle for ever.

For a power line, a trencher might be a lot easier way to do it. It's a good idea to put the power line inside a plastic pipe or put 2x4's etc., over the line. That way if you ever have to dig something up, you'll have warning that the power line is there. A walk behind trencher shouldn't cost too much to rent and won't make a big mess.
