I have been watching Krause Plow clear some lots they own and figured they were getting ready to expand. Business has been good and they recently announced the hiring of 25 additional workers.

Guess all good things must come to an end as the nearly 100 year old company has sold/merged with a company from France. Announcing story at the link below.

I expect those of us in Kansas will always associate the Krause name with one-ways, and probably the K-2 model.
Krause plow sold.

I think for the most part when Kuhn acquired Knight there was very little changed in the production and distribution of Knight products in the US. I'm thinking this will be the MO with Krause. A lot of Deere dealers have Kuhn and/or Knight here but not Krause. I wonder if this will change with this announcement. Presently I get along with the Deere dealers about the best as of late so it would not be a big deal. Before anybody says anything I know Deere is not in on this but as stated before a lot of Deere dealers here have Kuhn and/or Knight franchises already.

The local Case-IH dealer sells a BUNCH of Kuhn implements, and not too many towns away, the New Holland dealers have the Kuhn line.

You really think Deere will let thier dealers sell Khun/Krause?Our local(recently aquired by a hostile takeover) will not sell any thing that doesnt have"JohnDeere" on it.Also the older dealer sold Hesston hAY eQUIPMENt severalyears ago.JD corp said stop selling Hesston or we will "yank" your (jd)franchise.JD corp is chicken$h!+(my opinion)

Deere use Kuhn cutterbars in some of thier disc mowers, our local Deere dealers are also dealers for Cat telehandlers, Krone, and Agrowplow. Also Polaris, Husaberg, Nissan and Holden cars. (Austrailian G.M.)

Hard to say at this point. As stated before a lot of Deere dealers here already have at least Kuhn and/or Knight here. Deere was never serious about feed mixers when they made them and now are out of it. Kuhn makes a fair number of hay tools that Deere does not offer. So up to this point there has been little conflict. The local Deere dealer said that if they put something on the yard for stock that competes with a Deere product that the TM will insist they put that Deere product in the yard to offset.
The ball is in Kuhn/Krause's court at this point. If K/K decides they want to put everything together into one franchise it will create problems for sure. I can't imagine the JD TM's would be happy to see Krause products on Deere dealer lots as Deere has an extensive tillage/seeding lineup of its own. The only salvation would be is it might bring in Krause people that use other color tractors, combines, and such for the Deere dealer people to try to convert them. The dealer that has Krause now here also has Claas among other lines. I can't imagine the Claas rep would be happy to see all the Kuhn/Knight stuff rolling in onto that lot. Claas with its self-propelled forage harvesters is very big business for this dealer more so than Krause.
The problems putting everything together creates in terms of having to abandon previously good selling dealers for unknowns tells me it might be better to operate just as everything was prior to this acquisition. But you never know.

I agree. Back in the 50"s my wifes family had a Cockshutt dealership.Cockshutt didn"t want thier dealers selling anything else.Local dealer to us was Cockshutt but was bringing in red David Browns so Cockshutt pulled thier franchise. They stayed with David Brown and got New Holland,New Idea,Kongskilde,Kverneland and other shortlines. They did very well .
