Gas Engine ID ?

Found an old hit and miss engine today,but need help with what it is.It has a brass tag on top of it with a serial number on it 253696.Below that it says RPM 550 HP 1 1/2E.Has a hopper on top for water,single cylinder,with 2flywheels.Also had a little hand crank you could hook on the crank to crank it over with.Looked to be red in color,with maybe some yellow on the side of the hopper.Had a electrical unit of some sort on the side that said Webster Tri Powwer Ocsilator.Anyone have an idea what kind of motor this and what it might be worth?Thanks

Most likely an Economy sold by Sears Roebuck and made by Hercules at Evansville Indiana. That serial number range used the Webster magneto.

If you get one, don't use that crank. Stand behind and pull the flywheels ever by hand to start engine. Also if it doesn't have a crank guard don't put foot on engine for lever. That crankshaft will come around and remove some toes if you put your foot the wrong place.

Might want to try posting some pics on old-engine.com. Sounds definitly like a sears economy.
