O.T. Compuiter problems revisited.

Well folks. I took a lot of advise on here to try a free download virus etc protection. we did just that. Took 1 hr to download then when it finished, the computer took forever to get started again SLOW AS MOLASSES IN WIs. WINTERS. Deleted them and the computer is back 1/2/azzed like it was before. So My SON went to r.Lake 59 miles one way to good old wally world for a new program. Sticker shock.!!!!
Ended up with Mc Afee and again he removed the old McAfee program and installed the new one. NOw guess what, He couldn't get into the computer programs because They (RUG HEADS) said the new disc was almost a year old. They fiddled ---- ed around for over 3 hrs .then had to call in a stupidvisor to take control of the computer so they could make the down load. When we bought the computer , we were told Mc Afee was a permanent program that would last forever.They came up with another excuse= When we deleted the old Mc Afee program, there must have been a small particle that didn't get poofed. Oh YEAAAAAAAAAA! Sounded like I was going through the like senerio with Dell over a ridiculous amount of $23.12 outdated sound system. now bear in mind this was a NEW SYSTEM JUST DELIVERED . I spent over 20 hrs at the computer trying to get the dummy's to understand the problem.It took the BBB a short time in convincing em to pony up the dough. I was passed from one rug head to another ,like a unwanted child among family members or An orphan who didn't make muster with prospective parents. The BBB did the trick. Swell bunch of folks. I kept thinking this is da ja voo sp) all over again. Any way . as you can tell. Were back on line .(to some ones disappointment) But like I've said many times "FRANKLY MY DEAR etc".Just thought you would like to know. I do appreciate all the help that was afforded us and the time to post your replys. Although we ended up Some what better off then when we started. Notice I said SOMEWHAT. My son told me the computer building is run by the Mjhanenni, ruin ala Turkic guys. So rest well tonight , Your computer is in good Hands .OR IS IT?? Only the shadow Knows.

People have gotten away from, McAfee, Nortons and some others because they put a heavy load on your computer, don't know what's in them to do this. It appears you already have a virus or a computer full of junk.
I have all of these on my computer and run them regularly.

Perhaps it's time to go to Plan B.

1. Download a "live CD" or "live DVD" version of any one of the popular Linux distributions.

2. Burn image to disk.

3. Insert CD or DVD into problem computer and hit the reboot button.

4. Give it a whirl without installing. See if Linux will meet your needs. Note that the Live CD/DVD will be MUCH slower than a regular install, because CDs and DVDs are much slower than hard disks.

5a. If you like what you see, reboot and run the install.

5b. If you don't like it, eject the CD/DVD and throw it in the trash. (Of course there are hundreds of distributions left to try, if you're still curious.)

My recommendation for the best Linux distribution for a first-timer is Mint. It's not what I use (I use Fedora), but it is an excellent choice for someone new to Linux.

Thanks For the reply.Now a days I don't discount any thing. My Son got a "SYSTEM MECHANIC Professional System to speed up and fix up P computers. Gonna throw that on too.I t seems like the harder one runs against the established conglomerates the farther one gets behind. Seems like their position is to WEAR EM ALL OUT so they (people)just bow down and quit bellyache n on things they can't change BECAUSE WERE IN CONTROL.

Nothing worse than spending that much time on fixing a darn computer! Go machine some new parts for you old equipment, you will forget all about that piece of cr$p computer and be much happier. LOL J

Keeps this up this computer will be PERMANENTLY DISASSEMBLED,and part of the landscape.Have 2 boxes of 44 specials for minor repair and tweaking of the system diagnostics,(supervisors and associates).If I could get my hands on this computer to fix it,but for some reason,it doesn't understand my language,of (3 dialects), ENGLISH<OBSCENE & PROFANE.but that's something we(computer & I) will clear up shortly.LOL

Much of what makes computers run slow is software that uses large amounts of memory to operate. this includes virus-protection software.

Find out what kind and how much memory your machine will take and put as much in as it will take.

I put 2gb of ram in my 6 y/o laptop for about $50.00 and now it runs like the proverbial raped ape.
