I bought a 71 3020 powershift and moved the lever on the left side that disconnects the hydraulics for cold weather starting. The lever moved really easy but now I cant get it back to normal and have no tranny. Is there a latch or some special movement to returning that lever to normal.

If you are talking about the lever on the LH side of the dash pedestal, are you aware that there's a knob to the left of the ignition and light switches that must be pulled back to release the disconnect clutch on the flywheel? While pulling back on the disconnect lever, pull the knob, then slowly release the lever.

(The lever that msb refers to is behind the driver's left heal, and disconnects the final drive pinion from the transmission output shaft, but does NOT affect the hysraulics.

Thanks a million Bob . I went out and that did the trick. I just felt that it must have been latched somehow.

I will try that. Never been able to get that lever to move. Always worried me that I would not be able to tow it if needed. But never had to in 25 years! Mark

Bob is correct in how the disconnect clutch works. It does not just release the hydraulics. It disconnects everything behind the fly wheel. Its purpose is to aid cold weather starting.

The lever at your heel is to disconnect the transmission from the pinion shaft so you can safely tow the tractor if it is not running.

A word of caution the traction clutch dis-connect is not intended for towing but a cold weather starting aid.

The "tow" lever on a PS is on LH rear corner of floorboard aa platform.
