Growing Strawberrys

This is a question for anyone who grows strawberries. I was going to plant a few plants this year but I read an article from the University of KY that stated the ground should be in something besides sod for two years prior to planting due to white grubs that are found in sod. I was gonna plant about a quarter acre and I don"t want to waste time and money if the grubs would kill them. I am researching something to kill the grubs but not sure if that is an option. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks in advance. Fud

I planted strawberries immediately after breaking the ground and did not have any problem. But I did not do that large of an area. I find grubs every year is all parts of my garden (about an acre) when ever I till or dig. I just keep a coffee can nearby and feed em to the chickens.
