Need opinions on comparing tractors

Just what every girl wants for Valentine's Day...(at least this girl does)! Looking to purchase different tractor and need opinions on -
White 2-105 $9500.00 (w/o loader) with heat & ac
Case 2090 $10500.00 (w/o loader) with heat & ac
Ford 7700 $10900.00 (with loader) with heat & ac

Got any pics?????? Maybe even 1 or 2 of the tractors

I can't really comment on the price, but if the ford with loader is in good shape and not used to death, you'll appreciate the loader. What are you using it for?

Dave

Happy Valentine's Day All three were good tractors. If you can drive test them make sure everything works. If you need a loader go for the ford.

Happy Valentine's Back At Ya... All pictures show the tractors in fair to good condition. I need the tractor mostly for loading, hauling, and feeding round bales on my beef farm. What I need to know is if anyone has had any experience with these tractors in regards to - Gas usage, potential problems or quirks, is price good or not. Unfortunately, most tractors I've been looking at are located a fair distance from my farm. It's hard to find any used tractors in NE Minnesota.

I'd sure get the loader tractor then and also a bale spike of some type for the 3pt hitch. Do you need that much tractor though? Might consider diesel for fuel usage ??
If they are eating, they are sh!tting too so that loader will be a blessing and I doubt you could go wrong with a ford..
If all you are doing is cleaning up and moving round bales, what is you step back to 30-50 HP. Use less fuel and maneuver much easier.

Good Luck,

Dave

Kellie Jo, Happy Valentine's Day to you.

Is there any doubt that a pretty blue tractor is just the right one for you?

I own a small blue compact. I used to own a 1070 Case so am also partial to that Case you mentioned.

Are there dealers nearby that sell White, Case, or Ford? Having parts available would sway me and that is precisely why I wound up with a Ford vs. a Deere. JD dealer has changed twice since I bought my Ford, and CaseIH has changed once. Ford has the same dealer though it appears to me that it is now slipping.

A lot of Amish and Mennonites in this general area use Fords so I figure they know the value of a dollar.

hi happy v day read your ? what dealers do you have for sevice i had ih hydo 70 was great loader tractor some tractors are not handy to shift foward to rev. or park to get off close gate ect. hyd cycle times i have jd 7320 mfd now love it mfd is the to go mud &snow buy mfd if you can my 2 cents

I looked the tractors up in my 2002 Hotline Price Guide. All 1983-84. Ford $9825, Case $12,420. White $14235. All of these should be discounted equally, around 25%, to allow for 9 years more depreciation since my book was published. I would suggest looking at comps. on Tractor House, to get a good idea of comparative value, everything else being equal. I think that most would agree that Tractor House pricing should be reduced by 20%. pay particular attention to oil pressure when you are looking at them.

If they are equal in condition, tires, paint, etc, the Ford is the one to go with if the loader is in good condition. A good loader is a very useful piece of equipment and costs at least $2500 to add a decent one to a tractor of those sizes.

The Ford is a bit smaller than the others, but $10900 would hardly buy a decent 7700 without a loader around here. A good loader is worth a LOT. Tons of jobs for it.

I've got a 7000 and a 7600... both use the same engine as a 7700. You'll have a hard time getting it to use over 4 gallons per hour doing tillage or other heavy work. Light work will be 1 1/2 to 2 gal./hr. It's plenty big for what your'e talking about doing with it. One thing to watch for on the Fords is cylinder wall cavitation. Keeping the coolant maintained with conditioner does a good job of preventing this. As I said in my other post, if it's in good shape, that's a good price!
From what I know of them, the Case (2 neighbors have them) and the White will both use somewhat more fuel for the same job. But they ARE bigger. Their physical size will also make them less maneuverable.

I would go with the Ford hands down. The Case, and I think the White are both 6 cylinder engines. The Ford a turbo charged 4 cylinder. Much better fuel economy with the Ford. I've had both a 2090 and several Fords of that series. When I went to all turbo 4's my fuel bill dropped by half.

Get the loader. Once you feed round bales from the front you'd never go back to doing it from the back.

Definately the White if the AC works. That's a good low price for one of those even if it didn't have a loader. You'll never beat that 354 Perkins engine.

They'll all be diesels and won't be especially hard on fuel unless you're doing heavy work like plowing or cultivating. If you need a loader, it's always a lot easier buying a tractor with a loader already installed instead of trying to find a used loader to fit the tractor. I'd probably agree with the Ford if it's a little smaller. Look at the condition of the loader. That will give an idea if it's been abused. See if the pivot pins are loose and/or show signs that they were greased regularly. I've seen loaders where the pins have never seen grease and the hole is wallowed out twice the size it should be. Dave

I have a friend who has had a 7700 Ford since it was new. He's not the best on maintenance, and it's even been hit by a car, but it just keeps on ticking. He's in the custom baling business, and feeds with it too.

Happy Valentines Day and I hope your choice turns out well.

Paul

Happy Valentines Day KJ! I"ve spent a couple years in Duluth Mn. at the air base, not one of the warmest places in the lower 48 so cold weather starting might be a prime concern and I"m not sure there are many dealers of any kind for several miles until you get close to Mpls. due to lots of woodland up that way as I remember. Loaders tend to wear heavily on the tractors front bolsters and steering tie rods so beware. I would try each one by starting it and spin the steering wheel from side to side looking for lost motion.
