4020 3 pt hitch

The adjustment arm on my 3 point does not thread in. I assume the threads are shot on the female part. Is there a fix? Or do I need to buy another? If a new part is required, is there a source other than John Deere?

Thanks

Heat, big wrench lots of oil. It has rust and dirt inside. Hopefully you will need no new parts. I worked about an hour on one from a 3020. Occasional adjustment and grease will prevent it happening again. I have them stuck on my IHC now

A very common problem. Sitting outside is bad. Fertilzer is bad. Road salt is bad. Manure is bad. Old age, etc. I haven't had one yet that I couldn't break free. Tried most everything. Let one sit in a jug of diesel fuel for about a month. Heat. PB Blaster, Seafoam, etc. Don't give up. You'll get it free. You'll keep it lubed for a while after but it'll probably happen all over again. Happens to new ones as well.

No problem purchasing parts from Deere but trying to find out if its worth looking into used or new aftermarket.

After I finally got my lift arms free (took a 36" pipe wrench), I found problems with the threads on the male end of one side. There is about a 2" section where the treads are worn / stripped / corroded down to where they jump. Quick solution is to not screw it down to where that portion would be near the threads in the female end. Long term solution was to watch ebay for several months until I found a replacement. The replacement was frozen up too, but the 36" pipe wrench solved that problem again.

I don"t know what caused the problem, as one side of mine were perfect - assuming it was the same age as the bad side.

You suspect that the threads are bad on the female end. Is yours froze up completely?
