Well --Dave2

Threw out a search on local forums for a used thermostat. Just came from the stripyard but couldn't find any housings with the right hose diameter. Also found an aftermarket for much less than the 300 bucks that I originally found. Don't know what kind of site I stumbled on to before. Still about 150 bucks, but you can replace a thermostat in it for a few bucks. If I don't find a used one, I'll go the new route.

Thanks for asking.

(quoted from post at 03:06:36 02/08/11) be sure to test it in a pan of water , new or used .

Before I done anything this morning, I changed the oil and the coolant. There was no coolant in the oil pan which is good. Not sure, but think I found a leak in the radiator. Was hard to tell before because the antifreeze/coolant was completely clear. The prestone in it now should leave some sign of any leak. A leak in this spot makes since because the fan would suck the area dry and disseminate the liquid before you would see it.
Anyway, covered about half the radiator and put about 30 road miles on it getting hay. Couple of drops out of the breather tube but it could have been something stuck in there from before. Seems fine though. just need to get a thermostat ASAP.
