Hi my Dad has got me on the search for some information on the following.

Syracuse Horse Drawn Single Furrow Plow No5 1878

He has part of this piece of machinery but has no handles and possible something else missing I believe and wishes to get some made up but has no picture to go by. Does anyone have some pictures or any kind of information on this please.

Thankyou so much

That sounds like one of their first models as they were formed as a company in 1876. By 1910 their annual sales of plows amounted to around $200,000 which caught the attention of John Deere. John Deere purchased the Syracuse Chilled Plow Company in 1910 for over $1 mil. They continued to sell Syracuse plows under that name but now through the John Deere dealer network. Soooo, you could contact JD in Moline, Ill to see if they have historical records although the plow you are researching was made and sold many years before JD became involved. New York state has many agricultural organizations and museums. That would probably be where you would find such information.
