I was posting in an earlier post about these books that where published by John Deere. They where given to schools and colleges for free. I have several of the editions. They where published from 1927 to 1957. There are 28 editions. I find the older ones to be very interesting. The early editions also go into great detail on adjusting and using horse drawn equipment I also have used the later ones to learn more about adjusting tractor drawn implements. The main one being moldboard plows. These books where written when plowing was very important. I think that these would be a big help for many of the first time equipment users we have on here. The books are talking about the time many of our tractors where being used in everyday use. I just bought the 28th edition last year on E-bay for $20 including shipping. So they can be found very reasonable. Also many libraries have them too. They where originally written to be educational class books. I have attached a link to more about them.

I dont know if I did it excat as you said, but my laces dident come untied during chores tonight. Not haveing to bend down every 3 minutes or so to tie your boots is great. You have to be able to do 2 things at once to make it. I floss while I condition my hair, you know the part were your just supposed to leave it set there. The time savings advantage is great. lol. Just kidding, thats a line from the movie
The Informant. But not tieing my boots all the time was nice,. Thanks J

I have several, would like few more. My oldest is about 1934, newest about 1953. There's so much info about using older implements in them, read and re-read all of them.

I have the 27th Edition, says copyright 1955. Was given it in highschool FFA class. Most of the tractor pictures and explanations are of the JD 2-cyl series, such as the 60 and 70 models. Excellent book showing in grezt detail how to plow, lay out fields for plowing, etc. Tom

I have a small collection of old agriculture books and my mom found me a copy of this book a few years ago. Lot of good info in there. Back when I was in high school, our library at school had a book about conservation practices. Can't remember the title but was probably written in the 40s or 50s. Had chapters on building terreces, plowing on the contour, planting and even how to open and harvest fields with a corn picker. I almost had that book memorized, don't think anyone had checked it out for about 8 years til I found it.

There were classes in agricultural practices that veterans could get free after WWII. My dad went through it, and got a late '40's edition of the book. I still have it.

Hey Mike..........actually, I think the classes were part of the GI bill and the veterans were paid to attend. My dad did and had numerous books from the classes; haven't thought of the books in years; wonder if one of sisters has them.
