According to JD parts.com only brackets for a 158 will work,148 brackets are a different part #. Where do you live? Have you posted an ad in the classifieds at top LH corner of this forum?

The mounting brackets for the 148, 158 and 168 loaders all look the same. The main difference between the 148 and larger loader frames is the thickness of the metal. While a 148 mounting frame will allow a 158 loader (or 168) to be mounted on it you compromise strength both for the loader and of the tractor. The main difference between the 158 and 168 is the latter is designed wider to fit around a 4640. I believe the mounting frames are the same as a 158 with the exceptions of parts pertaining to width. You would be better off finding the 158 parts. Mike

(quoted from post at 10:28:35 12/19/10) The mounting brackets for the 148, 158 and 168 loaders all look the same.

As Mwj stated that had different mounting bolts sizes means looking the same but having different part #s can only mean one thing "they're not the same parts"

They also are spaced farther apart, no way will a 148 and 158 interchange on the frame mounting.

The bucket and attachments are interchangeable...

Im Lake Charles La. . Looking at buying a JD158 loader but the mounting brackets went with the tractor when they sold it for salvage 2 years ago.

Have you priced the brackets at JD? Sometimes the price is surprisingly reasonable.
The dealer saves gas money and time driving all over hill and dale looking at used brackets that maybe wrong.
Have you figured out the hydraulic connections yet?

(quoted from post at 18:30:15 12/19/10) Yup, tough to tell after reading the parts list with three different mounting frames for Waterloo rowcrop tractors.

Not really as these are the correct part numbers for a 158 loader on a 4020
