Friday I was outside working on the car in a sweater shirt and not zip up { 52 degrees } ... Sunday it's 6 degrees at 7 this morning w/strong North winds .. got some snow last nite .. mostly on piles because the the wind blew all nite ..

Got to love it .. This is in Central Iowa ..

Years ago when I was in boot camp at Lackland AFB (San Antonio, TX), we could leave the barracks in shirt sleeves for our daily workout. In a matter of hours we would be looking for a heavy jacket. The temp would drop so fast, it was incredible if you had never seen it do that before.
Never be surprised by the weather, it has been doing this for as long as anyone can recall.
The TV weather stations try to get us to believe that there is really an "average" temp, but there really is not. It can and will do whatever it is going to do, matters not what it did in any "same period" previously.
Then you have the folks that say the world is coming to an end because the weather just went "out of normal".
Oh well, are we really as smart as we think we are? LOL

We are having your warm weather this morning in MD as it was 52° this morning with heavy rain. At least I didn't have to blow or shovel it. The wind is picking up and it's suppose to get somewhat colder for Monday and Tuesday. I did put the snowblade attachment on my garden tractor. I wanted to start the snowblower since I haven't used it since Feb and it fired right up with a littler primer use and choke. Hal

Yeah, we are having wind chills of -20 to -30 this morning and the wind has died down to half or less what it was yesterday. Had to drive into town yesterday, about 40 mph (visibility about 20 yds). When I came back, 10 to 15 mph visibility 0 to 20 feet. This was on US 59 north of Cherokee Ia.

I hate to use my garden tractor since it looks so nice. I did plow the plow the garden with it this Fall. I also used it for hauling leaves out to the street for the town to pick up. I kept a big pile to put on the garden this Spring. Hal

It is 32.9 degrees in mid Mi.right now. But it is on the way down and wind is picking up. Its also snowing.

Right there with you. We went from 53 yesterday morning to currently 12 here in west-central MO. Wind was a killer last night. Still blowing but not near as aweful.

doesnt get that cold here in Tejas but i have seen it 91 in the afternoon and wake up to 18 the next morning...didnt take long to wake up that day.

In Texas that is called a Blue Northerner. Go to work at 7 70 deg 4 hours later 40 deg have had happen to me many times while at Bergstron AFB In Austin.

1956, I was a 17 yr old boy in Pike co. Il., and was to go along with an old hired hand to cut brush out of a wet area of the corn field in the Il.river bottoms. Old Andy Franklin showed up wearing his winter coat, that morning, and I started making fun of him for having the coat along. Old Andy said that any Da-ed fool knows enough to take along a coat when it's cold out, but a smart man takes it when it's pleasent. By afternoon I couldn't swing that axe fast enough to stay warm, but Old Andy was comfortable. I've never forgot that!
