I have a 1990 chevy pickup with 350 motor that has been starting and runing fine until last weekend. I stopped and put gas in it started fine shut it off about 2 hours then tried to start it and it wouldnot start. So i pushed the foot feed to the floor and it finally started. Once it started it ran fine. But still have the problem once in a while it will start and die until it runs a few seconds. My thinking is the egr or something like that.

i'm not a Chevy expert but i think that year still had throttle body injection...sounds to me like an injectors leaking and flooding engine, hence the full throttle and start you describe.

It sounds like you are on the right track with the EGR valve. It's easy to remove and check for leaks. I'd also look closely at the TBI base gasket, as they are notorious for developing leaks. Also be sure to check the computer engine grounds, especially the wire on the thermostat housing. I have moved several of them to another bolt on the intake manifold because of corrosion at the stat housing. If those things don't fix it, then you need to check the ignition and the fuel pump/filter. HTH
Good Luck and God Bless

Had a 88 did the same thing. Fuel pump might going if its original. Mine had a 25 gallon tank and was full when it went bye bye.

Had a 96 dodge do the same thing, that one had a 28 gallon tank, full too. 300 bucks for that dodge!

pull the vacuum line off of the fuel pressure regulator and see if fuel is coming out. if it is the nthat will flood the motor.
