OT - Question with rant

Just don't understand this. Why is it when you buy parts or whatever on credit card and for one reason or another, parts wrong etc you must return items it takes days to credit your account ? But when you made the purchase it only took a minute or two to bill your account. Example of this is last Friday I ordered some parts and because they had to add to my order they canciled first order, issued credit to my card for first order then rebilled for second order. Now this was all done on Friday, not like there was a time spand. Parts arrived today UPS but since Friday still showing both orders billed to my account (I check my account on line)and no credit. I called Monday and was told credit was given but would take at least 48 hours to show up. This has happened before and one time it took about 10 days. They all have a bunch of reasons why but I just can't see it.

Hello Cockshutt Mike,
Credit issued is the same as credit charged. If it is posted the same day, it is detucted or credited the same day.
Don't let them tell you different.
Some stores don't even ask you how you want your credit for a return. I just went to Sears to return a $15 item i gought yesterday and charged it
I woukd have been happy just to have it credited to my account. Instead i got $15 cash.
No......... its not a cash advance, its just how they do it sometimes.
Guido.

i won't try to count the times i've got my butt chewed out for credit card refunds,

the big companys like to dragazz around and play with your money for as long as they can. if they can hang on to it and make money off of it they will.

btw if at all possible use a debt card, it costs me 5cents for you to use a debt card in my store, but if you use it as a credit card, it can be up to 5% , ringing up a big order that adds up.

Wrong!!!!I have a credit card machine...and I sell parts. If You buy a part from me and use a credit card,I get a "settlement report" at the end of the day showing that you purchased the item. The money wont post to my account for 48+ hrs, It shows it left your account that day. Then your bank or credit card company has to make that deposit at the end of the day with the Federal Reserve. My bank has to accept the deposit from the Federal Reserve and then post it to my account.

Refunds are the same way...It left my account and it doesnt show on your account, its between the banks depositing and setting at Fereral Reserve.

What difference does it make? You won't end up paying that bill for at least a month, even if its near the close of the billing cycle (you get 25 days to pay after they bill). As long as the credit shows up on your bill, it shouldn't matter.
