Hauled Firewood Today. I Think We Did Good! (Picts)

This is what we did today. Hauled firewood home to use in heating the house this winter. I think we did very good. We have a neighbor that has a big pile of wood that he cut years ago that he doesn't want so we are hauling it all off to use. Put the truck to work hauling the stuff. This is 4 loads. and there are another 4 or 5 where that came from. The neighbor also has 3 huge piles of trees that he has cleared and we have free reign on those also. I am glad that we have a very nice neighbor to let us take that wood. Enjoy the pictures!
Thanks for reading!!

Wow, I dont know hardly anything about Nebraska. But that truck is in great shape. Has it been restored? stored? or what?? 2wd so maybe not out in the salt and snow?? Great pic.J

I restored a 64 Ford pick-up for my son to drive in high school, used it around the farm for years afterwards. Great old truck, that old Y block 292 was a real puller. Wish it had a body as good as yours.

Now don't overload thatta truck now.LOL
That looks like barely a month's worth of heat to me!.

I live close to Denton, Nebraska, about a 15 minute drive southwest of Lincoln. Hopefully this wood will get us through the winter but if we do get low I will be able to get a lot more from where that came from.

Hey Sodly,
Sorry I forgot that I promised you more pictures of the truck. I would be glad to talk with you about the truck, just open your email. Thanks a lot.
Andrew

Purchased the truck about a year ago. The truck was in a shed for 20 years so it was protected. The previous owner pulled it out and got it running and put new tires on it. Then he painted it the original color and then I purchased it. It isnt all rusted out like a lot of them. The box is in great shape. I just need to find a tailgate. It has a 352 V8 with an automatic transmission and 90,000 miles. Its a really fun truck!

you gonna get the shed built so you can keep that nice truck iside for the winter? nice pictures, send some more of your cars and tractors please!! larry

Like the truck. Had a red one just like yours back in the day. Can't remember much about it. Had a V8 and a floor shift trans that much I can remeber.I've had 14 fords up to the one I've got now. No complaints about any of them.Wrecked one back early 60's.Front tire blew out on gravel road. Had at different times an L110 and a R120 IHC's. Got rear ended in the 110 so that was the end of it. they were farm trucks made in the 1950's I think.

I had a similar truck for my first firewood rig. Mine was a 65 F100 with a 240 six and three-speed on the column. Used it for many years, but even with chains on the back, I couldn't get into half the places I needed to. I dumped it for a 69 Dodge 4WD Power Wagon, which I still have. A true piece of junk that I keep patching up. Took it off the road a few years back and not it stays in the fields and woods.
The truck is in the photo - with the red Ford box in back, and 71 GMC cab in front(69 Dodge Power Wagon). I've replaced the complete rear frame-half twice. Torched it off just at the cab-rear and welded in another. A State trooper crashed into me back around 1979 and tore the original Dodge cab right off the truck (with me in it). The new trooper car was totalled. I later found a 71 GMC truck for $50. I sold the running gear out of it for $100, put the GMC cab on the Dodge. It was NOT easy. Steering hook-up from old Dodge to GMC is opposite. When I first hooked it up, if I turned the steering wheel to the right, the truck wheels went to the left. I tried driving it for a week like that and gave up. I could not get used to it. So, I took two gear-pumps from John Deere tractors bolted them together to make a reversing box. Worked fine and I'm still using it. So, it's 69 Dodge W200 with a Ford box, 71 GMC cab, 318 Dodge engine, 4.88 axles, and Studebaker springs in back.

And my handiest firewood truck near my house. I mainly use it to get firewood from my pile, to my house where the furnace is. 85 Isuzu 4WD PUP diesel.
