Remembering Proud Farmers!

Charles Franklin Hebblethwaite - 1894 - 1965

At a very early age Mr. Charles Hebblethwaite went to farm his father's brother's farm who had passed away.

Even though Charles did not serve overseas, he served here, back in Canada and worked extremely hard all of his life providing for others.

That Murray Guy built a MEMORIAL STAND in Honour of his father.

That looks like one slow truck. Maybe even slower than the Chinese garden-tractor rigs. I suppose you are going to tell us it had a Dodge (Fargo ?) or Chrysler Hemi in it.

Thanks Bob/Ont Guest!

I remember this rig very well, early 1950's GMC, with a 6 cylinder Continental engine, five speed transmission with a two speed single axle tractor with a 38' Trailmobile cattlevan, tandem axle licensed to carry 18 ton.

That Murray Guy told me he was raised in this rig.

Nothing wrong with canvas backs. But you have to be careful with the steel backs. Won't stop worth a damn. If the brake linings are worn down to rivets, it really doesn't matter though.

Hey Ward:

That Murray Guy purchased a used Louisville Tandem Dumper completely safetied, after two other safety checks he was told the truth about his brakes!

THERE WERE ONLY BRAKES ON THE FRONT STEERING AXLE!

CAM SHAFTS BUSHINGS WORE-OUT/MISSING, BRAKE DRUMS
HEAT CHECKED/CRACKED AND WORE THIN TO A POINT THE PADS COULD NOT MAKE CONTACT WITH THE DRUMS!

THANK GOD THAT MURRAY GUY WAS A REALLY GOOD COMMERCIAL TRUCK OPERATOR!

HE LEARNED HE COULD NOT RELY ON QUALIFIED MECHANICS FOR QUALITY WORK!!

IF YOU WANT THE JOB DONE CORRECTLY, YOU HAVE TO DO IT YOURSELF!!!!!
