Dose anyone have any information on a Boring Tractor? I am trying to restore one for my neighbor but can not find any information on them.They were made in Rockford, IL 1916 to 1922 +- Drawings or pictures would be helpful.
 
Sorry I can't provide you with any information but thought I'd make a comment----

I found that many tractors can be quite "Boring" after spending 12 hours days or more on them each day for nearly an entire summer.

I learned to read, use a calculator, etc. as I drove along without wandering of course.
 
So: no help from the Rockford Hist"l Soc or Soc"s (often more than one) or the literature section in the pub lib there??
Have you contacted old tractor/farm/ag clubs located in Rockford and the area?? (They often are likely to have local stuff).
Put ads on Craigslist in the Rockford area for anyone who might have literature, or anyone with relatives who might"ve worked at the factory, and could have literature in their closets??
How wide a general net are you casting?? I follow one other large forum daily, and others occasionally, and I see no post by anyone re" Boring.
I assume you watch EBay; have you put a want on EBay??
And then there"s the professional literature dealers who often have oddball stuff they don"t advertise...
My apologies if the owner, or you, has done all of the already.
 
In c.h. wendels book Standard Catalog of Farm Tractors:

Invented by charles e. Boring who got patent number 1,203,304 in 1916.

In 1918 the firm was incorporated to build the boring 12-25. It had a 4 cyl waukesha with 4 1/4 by 5 3/4 cylinders.

The right hand drive wheel ran in the furrow for plowing and the left drive wheel was adjustable so the tractor ran level.

It cost $1,485 in 1919.

Production ended in 1922.

Hope that helps! There's a picture of the tractor too. That's all the information they had, though.
