Massey Ferguson Trivia Questions!

There is no doubt that Detroit MF agricultural tractor division worked to about 1981, but I believe Des Moines, Iowa built the MF 60. From what I understand even though the MF60 is a little known tractor backhoe, again it was ahead of it's time, but at a time when MF got caught up in the economic downturn.

The MF60 had a raised platformed operating station, both open and closed with excellent working vision forward and backward.

You mentioned the 50A, I believe was an early model, replaced with the 50C.

After the MF60 plant was closed in Des Moines, France started building the 50F.

my info shows Des Moines stopped in 1980 and Detroit still made LBS in 81 but showes no model. i have a 60 but no place dose it say Des Moines but dose Detroit but not as point of build

My serial #MF60BH-CM 9E100907, in 1981/82 I purchased it as brand new with 60 hours on it, but I believe it was actually built in 1978-79.

With an extendable dipper and a high capacity bucket, I could reach over 20 feet. This was a real digging machine.

All of the literature I have mentions Des Moines, Iowa, but it does say it was actually built there.

Needless to say I still have it and in perfect operating condition.

Why replace something that is actually flawless?
