Old batteries

A few ago old batteries could not even be given away, now I see people advertising to buy them for 4-5 dollars. What changed the value on old batteries? Stan

I was cleaning out a field and hauled a bunch of industrial-size batteries to the dump. They took them for free, saying they'd make money off recycling them. I was expecting to pay some kind of hazardous material fee, so I was happy to be rid of them.

Back in the eighties or nineties I bet that I could have gotten a dump truck full of them at work. They had a big pile of old scooter, golf cart, emergency light batteries etc. I was tempted to get them and store for awhile but thought that I might have ended up paying to get rid of them.

They like every thing else have gone up. I took in a number of battery's not long ago and got $0.159 per lbs for them. Or I could have gotten $9 each but the by the lbs was more.

In ohio if you buy a new battery they charge you 11 bucks extra without a trade in,even on a new battery.

I just called the local scrap yard got a price of .05 per lb - 10.00 each from 4 places withing a mile of each other. guess where I took 20 to.
also quoted 295. per vehicle picked up .
somethings up
