I have a 15 foot bush hog. What is a fair to charge for bush hogging a 40 acre neglected field? I have seen adds in the paper for $35 per hour for a 6 foot bush hog.

I get $65/hr for 45 hp tractor+5'bush hog. Even more for the rubbertrack crawler with a 4' mounted up front. If you don't pay for your equipment, you won't stay in business.

we are at 40 an acre till it get past the top of front tires. We recently did 40 acres and charged 60 an acre cause it was 12 foot high

For a 15 ft. wide bush hog with 100+ HP, I think you should be getting at least $100/hr. A mower and tractor that size doesn't come cheap. Dave

Going rate here is $18 per acre for reasonably clean ground, 20 acres and larger, just weeds/tall grass. Heavy brush is a different matter.

SOME un-insured, non-legitimate business (ie, doesn't pay taxes, ect) part-timers charge as little as $30 an hour for smaller tractor/mower rigs. Full time legitimate operators charge upwards of $60 per hour for 6'/7' mowers behind capable tractor.

15' batwing behind capable tractor (here) runs from $90 to $125 average. Larger acreage (hence, less transporting equipment expenses) can run less.

I usually get $125 hr for 95hp tractor/15' batwing. Will discount SOME on jobs of more than 8 hrs.
