your car look like this after 300k miles???

(quoted from post at 09:11:22 09/04/10) Dave, it still looks as bad as it did when it was new. What a puker.

You's got no taste............

Wasn't real crazy about them til we got one for my wife. Real prictical for us and more comfortable than the dodge stratus she had before.

Keep buying imports it help's are economy out so much. And don't tell me that they are built here in the states because the money goes where the world headquarters for that company is and they just toss penny's to the guy's on the line that build them. And don't tell me imports last longer I had a 94 Thunderbird with 355,000 on it orginal engine and trans. The only reason I am not driving it still is I got rear ended by a simi. I was at a dead stop and the simi hit me at about 35 mph shoved me into the car in front of me and I shoved the car in front of me into the car in front of him. And I walked away with just a sore neck. A friend of mine has a f350 with over 500,000 miles and it's got the orginal engine and trans. I have also seen lots of GM and Dodge cars and trucks with over 300,000 on them. BUY AMERICAN that way nobody can bust your balls about import junk.

Right. Like my American UAW Jeep that is BRAND NEW with a blown axle seal that nobody can service till Wednesday, maybe? /roll/

Don't listen to these people. New Sorento's are built in the US and many Chevy's aren't. Corporations don't deserve loyalty, they must earn it and they're failing.

Dave2,

I'm all for whatever decision you make. You're a sensible, responsible guy and I know that your decision will be good.

Just as a side note, it kind of struck me funny that at Yank would be driving a rice-burner in Krautsville. We really do have a world-wide economy don't we?

Start looking at your US made vehicle closely,it may be US made but 75% of it are foreign parts assembled here. Chinese, Korean,Japanese electrics, Mexican and Brazilian, body parts.....

What I buy here doesn't effect the American economy or pad the UAW pockets.

Ever looked at the price of a compareable mercedes, VW, or bmw???
The motor in these (2.5 diesel) is mercedes.

I'm not knocking Ford, so don't go there and I drive Dodge. I use to have Fords till I went over to Dodge. I would be careful about knocking imports and pushing Ford, GM, Dodge as being American. Reason being (example Ford T Bird) has a lot of Canadian/Mexican in it, yes in 1994. What i'm saying is this. It is almost impossible to buy any without at least being part import, not that it makes me happy, just the way it is.

Like my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500, 4x4 with the Hemi. Plant of Origin says point of entry.....El Paso Texas. They don't even assemble them in the states

Dave, I would stick with either VW or Mercedes diesels if I were you. The KIAs that I have known just don't hold up as well. JMHO

Well, we bought a 2009 Jetta diesel wagon new for about $22K. I bought a 2000 Jetta TDI sedan used in 2003 with 33K miles for about $16K. I still have it now with 237K. Bought an 84 Mercedes 300D with 150K for $5,300 in 2005. It now has over 200k. None of these has needed anything beyond normal maintenance.

Paying somewhat more for initial quality usually pays off in the long run. I don't know what they go for in Germany.

Wife bought a KIA Optima in 08 and she still loves it. We tested several brands and models. She liked the nissan sentra the best but it was such poor design we had to pass on it. We considered the Sorento but I wouldn't have one because it had timing belts that needed to be changed every 50K miles.

Dunno what you do in Germany, but if you're in the military, those UAW people you complain about are helping put pay in you pocket. Please show some loyalty. Not everyone liked General Eisenhower or Patton, but very few went AWOL. Yeah, I know. I should just get over it and sing Kum-Ba-Yah along with all you union haters and go ahead and buy Japanese, Korean, Chinese. but I can't

Where is the world headquarters for Toyota,Honda,Kia and any other import? And I can tell you where the world headquarters are for Ford Derborn,Mi,USA. Gm Detroit,M Mi, USA. Chrysler Aulburn Hills, Mi USA. That's what matters like any company the big boss make's all the money. Keep as much money here as you can.

But here's the thing. If the car is made in Mexico, I can't get a job to build it. If it is made here, I may have a job. Simple as that. More taxes are paid when it is made here (more jobs, more SS tax, more state tax, etc.)

Just buy a good car and let the Socialist ideal of "you have to buy from this country" BS go. I would rather buy from an American company that PRODUCES in America. But sometimes it just don't happen. That is what is called a free economy!

Yeah look what the free economy has done to our economy. I know it"s hard to find thing"s made by a American company But when I do That is what I buy. Keep the money here. I just have to ask the people that drive jap cars. In 60 years are you going to drive a Binladen?
