Anyone have a Bond Snake Slayer?

A friend of mine was baling hay this week and had a snake come at him. He said if he weren't in Wisconsin, he'd swear it was a cottonmouth. He has a small 5 shot revolver that shoots .22 mag, but missed when firing at the snake. It got me thinking that maybe I should start carrying a small pistol in my pocket while working on the farm. Does anyone on here have a Bond Snake Slayer? It is a derringer type pistol that shoots .410 or 45 long Colt rounds. Seems that it would be an effective weapon vs. local wildlife for knock-down and "big bang" scare factor.

Better solution would be to learn what snakes are harmless and which should be avoided. If you have time to pull a gun you have time to take a couple of steps back.

I absolutely agree as far as snakes go. They don't bother me. I was thinking more along the lines of coyotes. There have been some couger siting around as well. I wouldn't shoot one that wasn't bothering me, but if I'm in a kill or be killed situation with a cougar, a small firearm would be of great benefit.

My son says I need to be carrying the .22 with me all the time to take out woodchucks, but that's just a bullet wound waiting to happen I'm afraid.

my buddies got a gun called "the judge" its a 5 shot revolver that shoots either .410/.45 long colt. that would be a good gun for these "problems"

Taurus sells "The Judge"
It is a revolver that shoots the .410 shells.
I am told that this revolver is carried by judges under their robes for any loser that doesnt like the verdict.

Snakes are on Trucks And Fall off or so When they are Moving Or Parked,Every Body Needs to be Awhere that even the Bad one Will Not live in the COLD AREAS Normaly. But May be there in the Summer Months.I know this because a Friend,s brother drove Tractor Trailer[ lives near Ithaca,New York 14850 ]In the summer had Cotton Mouths around ,because of the Loads on the Truck.OUCH

I have one, stainless 4" barrel and uses 2 1/2" shells. Will shot either .410 or 45 Long Colt. I bought it to keep on the ATV for shooting snakes, but also makes an great pistol for home defense. Buckshot out of it will really do some damage.

i would also like to get a judge or something of the sort wife and i do trail riding on the mountain and its home to timber rattlers (northern pa just 40 minutes drive from ithaca ny) not that i want to shoot around my horses but if something has to die its going to be the snake or rabid coyote or bear been sitings of mountain lions here but game commision sais they dont exist here yeah right

Some folks like learning about snakes. I'm one of them.
But I gererally shoot them first then look them over real careful like after their dead.
That gun reminds me of a 2 shot derringer I once had. 45 cal - about a 2 inch barrel.
Couldn't hit anything with it.
4 shot in that Bond would let you study the snake real handily.

I always carry a TAURUS TRACKER in 357 mag. Four cylinders are loaded with hollow points and three with blue cap shot shells. So far it has taken care of numerous rattlers, a rabid skunk and a coyote that was after my wifes little dog. I don't leave home without it.

I've got a judge , at 10 feet it has a pattern about 18 inches
across . Had it out and shot it a few times today.

There is only 2 snakes I will kill. One is in my chicken house and the other one is the type that would send me to the hospital and I pretty much know all the poisonous ones in my area. Only one like that, that I have so far seen in my area is the copper head and they die be it with a 22 shot shell or a 44mag shot shell or a tire on a car truck tractor or even motorcycle. Those little 410/45 guns you have to be pretty close to do much since the barrel is so short the shot spreads out real real fast

Just get a good quality revolver in 38 or 357. That'll do anything you need of snakes, coyotes, bad guys or Iowa grizzly bears.
