Anyone ever ran tile with a pull type tile plow? I have the laser transit and the education to run tile but only have a 225HP articulated JD and a 200hp FWA for a helper tractor so I am not sure if I can pull one?

It would be 2 feet or less and in lighter ground (muck and light clay)

Any help or advice-Thanks!

We have a tile plow and put in lots of 4" with an 8070 allis. You just make a run first with no tile to loosen the ground then run your tile the second time. We now use a larger tractor but you can use what you have.

That would be my helper tractor hooked to the John deere 8 wheeler. I have a subsoiler (JD 915) that I can run 2 feet deep to pre-rip but not sure if that would eliminate the need for a second tractor???

What's the point if you're only putting it 2 feet deep? It won't drain the subsoil moisture like it's intended to do, plus roots will infiltrate and plug the tile.

You can probably make that work.

I'd want tile 3 feet to the bottom of the tile most of the time, 2 foot deep and there is not much dirt on top, get a dead furrow and a chisel plow starts pulling tile up..... Been there.....

Depends on your ground. We pull one with a jd8640 in most ground. Some times we have to hook the cat d7 on front of tractor in real hard ground.
