I have a backhoe with a downdraft carb. where the the fuel line goes into the carb there is a needle that regulates fuel into the carb. Does this needle cause trouble? Is it suppose to have a spring on it? I am having trouble finding this needle. I believe I can run it without the needle by regulating the sediment bowl valve. Need to get it up and running quickly so I am in a jam. Thanks in advancce

are you talking about the needle valve that is on the float???(inside bowl, lets gas into the bowl for the carb to use) or the high speed jet, or the low speed air adjustment?

The float needle valve can have a small spring on it between the float and the needle. if it does,, you will see where the needle is machined down for the small spring to sit on it. Some carb rebuild kits come with the new style some with the old style. As long as it cuts off the gas at the correct height of fuel in the bowl, I dont think it matters much.

Hope my answer is close.. thx bill

I have a 3414....My power valve was froze in the carb so my only option was a new carb....If you go to marketplace on the left above us here....You can get a kit or carb and they have delivered everything I ever ordered quickly.....You need the needle to regulate fuel......
