1936 Huber HK

I have a friend interested in restoring his Grandfather's 1936 Huber HK. I don't know a ton about tractors, but from what I am gathering this is a pretty rare tractor and this may be a long journey for us! He refuses to begin the restoration until he can find the piston sleeves for the engine. I am hoping that some of you fine fella's can help me track these parts down. I am hoping that these sleeves are either reproduced or not just specific to the only the 1936 HK. If anyone can chime in with any information that will send me down the right path to getting this project started, I will be forever grateful!

Thank you in advance!

Leah

What make of engine does it Have?
How many cylinders ?
Huber used Hercules, and I know of one with
a Chrysler Industrial flat head 6 cyl.
Many secondary tractor manufacturers of that era
(Not IH, Case, John Deere) used purchased engines
such as Hercules, Continental, Waukasha, others..

You should also post down on the" Orphans " forum , your tractor was a low production brand, and those experts hang out there

We"re pretty sure that it is a Waukesha and it"s 4 cylinders. All my research so far supports that it"s a wauk as well.

Huber HK used a Stearns 5 1/8 x 6 1/2 engine, first off you most likely are NOT going to find a set of sleeves and pistons on someones shelf, but you never know, depending on how bad shape the engine is, better find a good machine shop, rebore the old sleeves and press in new sleeves inside the old ones to fit your old pistons, new set of rings and you are in buisness, you will find that you have to use what you can find or make work on these older machines, good luck

Did Huber use only the stearns for the HK? My research so far says that it was a Wauk CHK, but my boyfriend says he read they came with a Stearns.

Im hoping if I can expand my search from just the '36 HK to all tractors with the same engine I'll be able to find one that has been parted out. Or with enough chatter find someone that has machined or reproduced this particular part in the past.

We have some old waukesha parts ,but will have to
do some looking to see what the sleeves fit.
I'll send you an email in a day or two. Back
is too bad to walk far enough to look.

Leah: I do regret being the (probable) bearer of ill tidings, but my 38 Victor catalog, which is pretty good (but not perfect) at listing what various engines were used in, sez the CHS (43/4x61/4) and the CHK 51/8x61/4, were used in (hold your breath!!) Huber and Kay-Gee, period.
(That catalog, under Kay-Gee 18-35 (Keck-Gonnerman) shows Buda's to 1935, the Wauk CHK from 36 to end of prod in "WWII". There're probably as many K-G restorers as Huber restorers.
My engine lists show several other "C" engines, but the only one in my catalogs is the CU 43/8x51/4, used in Huber Light Four 12-25, which sounds too light even if it did fit or could be Mickey-Moused in.
When you have a positive ID I can run my catalogs (no big deal) for other installations. With sympathy, Bud
